“Something Terrible Happened Here”

image323.jpg

Went for a dander with Kate yesterday after work, along the river walk in Cullybackey. We hadn’t been there for about a year. Clearly, it has been the scene of a fierce and tragic battle/murderous attack/bizarre incident since then, because we don’t recall ever having seen these brutally decapitated statues before. It really is quite disturbing.

Kate would be completely useless as a detective, as her response was to stand there going “Oh dear!” and flapping her arms around in distress. Meanwhile, I grimly documented the evidence on my phone and returned home to file my report. So far, I have not made a great deal of progress with the investigation, having found myself stuck on two primary questions.

(a) How?

(b) Why?

This crime goes back a long, long way.

  2. yea i have only 2 things to say…

    how?

    why?

  3. Love the photo – her pose sums up her horror! Good luck with the investigation. Nelly seems to be a bit ahead of you though.
PS – Happy belated birthday!! Hope you had a great day and are coping OK with the dreaded Two-Six…

  4. It’s like the Blair Witch Project, part 2.
:-| My grief goes beyond what smileys can express.

  5. Is that Kate? Does anyone else think she looks like she’s standing there in shock at the realization of what she’s just done i.e. taken them all out in a mad spray of machine gun fire??

  6. Aww that’s sad. A bit like finding a naked dolly in the middle of the road, or a neglected boot! I’d have been tempted to lift them all upright and dress them. Is that odd? mmm. . .prolly.

  7. Nelly – are those the same statues? Was it YOU????
Ally – kind of stepping on my point a little, there.
Joey – thank you. No, I’m not, but thank you anyway.
Billy – I feel this is a classic line that I may borrow at some stage. “My grief goes beyond what smileys can express.” Fabulous, darling.
Clarissa – are you trying to frame Kate? It’s because you’re in love with her husband, HWBTC, isn’t it? Ha. I’m on to you.
Baino – dress them in what, exactly? It’s one thing to stand them upright, but to strip off all your own clothes and walk home in the buff out of pity for bits of stone is taking it a bit too far, I think. Also, has it escaped your notice that they’re headless?! This would seem to be a matter demanding more urgent attention than “nudity” or “lying down”…
