Everything’s been remarkably quiet on the Kat the Cat front lately, don’t you think?

 Which is why I’m obviously utterly delighted to have returned home from work this evening to find that she has completely lost her poor little feline mind. I was a little surprised, upon entering the house, to find the cat dangling bizarrely by her front paws  from the kitchen door handle, but was happy enough to put it down to a bout of laziness-induced boredom. I gently shook her off and tried not to appear overly alarmed when she shot between my feet and proceeded to do about twenty laps of the kitchen with the velocity of a trained racing greyhound.

As I was masterfully combining the tasks of cooking dinner, cleaning the kitchen, composing an email and talking on the phone, I became vaguely aware of Kat making strange, strangled moaning sounds and running up and down the stairs at something approaching the speed of light.

 ”What’s up, Kat?” I asked in the manner of one who is perfectly accustomed to having two-way conversations with animals.

The cat did not respond, however; instead, it leapt high into the air, performed a spectacular backflip, and proceeded to sit in a corner banging its head repeatedly against the wall.

I’m not especially well read in terms of cat psychology, but I can’t help but think that this type of behaviour is decidedly Not Normal.
